Toby began writing for The Hamilton Spectator as a freshly minted design school grad, typing her articles on a used IBM Selectric.

She wrote 48 columns a year for 16 years, then created a series called Living Consciously for a further 4-year stint, on topics from family & life to urban design and downtown revitalization.

Due to her work with many clients and her media profile, Toby is often asked to speak to groups.

Toby’s talk at Appleby College’s Harvest Colours Festival, “Fifty Shades of Grey”, addressed colour theory, the prevalence of all-grey interiors, and ways to add layering, depth and interest to your home.

Toby’s keynote speech to the Dundas Rotary Club’s Home & Business Fair (amateur video).

Her talk, Romancing the Home, takes a look at the relationship we have with our homes.  Like all relationships, this one requires regular attention, and Toby helps you see where and how you can keep the fun and freshness alive in yours.

Toby celebrated her 25th Anniversary in business with friends, family, trades, suppliers and clients old and new at a wonderful party at The Carnegie Gallery in Dundas.

Many of Toby’s Hall of Fame  clients, dating back to her startup in 1985, were in attendance, along with families who have sought her help for their children, their cottages, and 3, 4, even 5 consecutive houses. It was a bit of a Family Reunion!

Canada Blooms - Toronto - Canada’s largest horticultural exhibition. Toby with her winning floral arrangement. GTA Media personalities were pitted against one another to create an arrangement in an oversized goblet. There was much kibbitzing among the contestants before Toby’s all-white creation took first place - an unexpected upset for last year’s winner, Global TV anchor, Leslie Roberts!
