Toby began writing for The Hamilton Spectator as a freshly minted design school grad, typing her articles on a used IBM Selectric.
She wrote 48 columns a year for 16 years, then created a series called Living Consciously for a further 4-year stint, on topics from family & life to urban design and downtown revitalization.
Due to her work with many clients and her media profile, Toby is often asked to speak to groups.
